Southbank Centre

Southbank Centre is a global popular arts centre on the South Bank of the Thames River. Thousands of musicians, dancers and artists perform at Southbank Centre each year to numerous guests. Southbank Centre includes - Queen Elizabeth Hall, Royal festival hall, the Purcell room, the Hayward Gallery and also the Saison Poetry Library.

ROYAL festival HALL

Royal festival Hall is at the center of the Southbank Centre complex. Opened in 1951 as a part of the festival of England, the Grade I listed Hall is one among the world’s leading performance venues. yet as the area, there's The Clore dance hall, The Poetry Library, spirit level, (including Blue, White and Yellow Rooms) Southbank Centre shop, Riverside Terrace restaurant, Central Bar and Skylon edifice.

10 am – 11 pm on a daily basis

Entry to Royal festival Hall and to all our buildings is free, and you're welcome to come into our hall areas and luxuriate in the atmosphere with or without a ticket.

QUEEN ELIZABETH HALL

Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell room and Hayward Gallery closed on twenty-one September 2015 for 2 years of essential repair and maintenance so the buildings are acceptable for future generations to relish.

During this time, Southbank Centre’s classical programme continues at Royal festival Hall with chamber performances going down at St John’s Smith sq..

Hayward Gallery will concentrate on its in-depth travelling programme till the buildings open up in 2017.

The Undercroft skate park can stay open throughout the works together with the Queen Elizabeth Hall garden (during the summer months).

THE POETRY LIBRARY

In 2013, the Poetry Library at Royal festival Hall celebrated its sixtieth birthday.

The Library, whose holdings return to 1912, was established by the arts Council in 1953 and speakers at the opening included TS Eliot and Victor Herbert read.

After having homes across London, the Library moved to Southbank Centre in 1988. Over the years, the main focus on poetry from around the world translated into English has enlarged, as has the children’s collections, poetry on audio and also the assortment of poetry magazines.

The Library currently holds over 200,000 things and is the largest collection of recent} and contemporary poetry within the United Kingdom.
